Wheel Backspacing & 31x10.5 help
Wondering if anyone can tell me if a wheel with -12mm offset will give me issues on my 91 4runner if I also use 31x10.5 tires. Any issues with caliper clearence or bearing stress? My truck has stock suspension with no lift. Also will the tires fit on 15x8 wheels?
Thinking of getting these, or if anyone can recomend something better...

Yeah I figured it would work since the V6 4Runners came with 31's, wasnt sure about wheel width. Does anyone know the back spacing and offset of an OEM toyota wheel for the early 90's 4Runners?

This thread has more backspace information in it.
I have not ordered rims yet, and am going to either get the 15x8 w/4.75 bs, +12mm offset Cragar Soft 8's, or stick with the stock 15x7 aluminum that I currently have, which are 'almost' 4.75 backspace. This will be for 33x10.5 tires.

The Soft 8 that you list above will basically be a backspace of 4" + 12mm backspace... (negative offset is the same as saying it is positive backspace)...so this rim will have almost 4.5" of backspace, if I understand the measurements correctly.
I think negative offset is the same as saying the tire is closer to the frame. Positive offset means tire is toward the outside of the car.
More backspace means tire is closer to the frame, less backspace the tire is toward the outside fo the vehicle (wider track).
I don't know why they mix in 2 different measurements that essentially represent the same thing, with opposite values, but maybe someone else can chime in and explain why manufacturers do this.

Too much or too little offset is certainly a concern. I picked up a used set of wheels that have really positive offset and now my tires stick further out than I want them to. I will probably have to purchase some rubber extend a fenders or whatever they are called.

BTW Hilux if you haven't bookmarked 4crawler.com yet you should. loads of good information and really well organized. I probably would have spent less time on here asking the same question someone else already asked if I had just spent time on that site.
