My truck (84 pickup) has never been to 60mph (99kph) with me in it. My car (modified ae86) will do it in around 5 seconds.

With the 3.4, much less time to 60.

I will say my big 'ol dirty and slightly bent up 4Runner does seem to raise more eyebrows when I hit the gas pedal. Doesn't look like she should be able to do that well.

But sure I won't be killing any Corvettes in the near future. Then again, they won't follow me for long when I get to where I want to go.
Why do people always say that?
In the same truck, a 3.4 will give about .5-1 second better 0-60 time, not 4-5 seconds. Yes, i own both.

4runner: 0-60 in about 12.5 seconds (yes it's a 3.0 w/auto)
'94 truck: 0-60 on about 9.5-10 seconds (3.0 w/5 speed)
'87 truck: 0-60? Never gone that fast (mud tires+highway=)

I've tried to time my 87 4runner, but I keep forgetting what it is I was supposed to do,(check time) way before it reaches 60mph. Now my FJC with 4.0 is pretty quick. I haven't timed it but it gotta be way below 10sec.

Did 4th gens come with a 3.0? I thought they all had 3.4.
Whoops. That was a typo. I meant 4.0. Thanks for catching that. If the 3.0 was still around I would kill my self.

The engine options are a 4.0 V6 or the 4.7 V8.

The 4.0 4Runners/FJs run the 1/4 mile almost a full second and a half before a 3rd gen crosses so yes;it's solidly under 10 seconds, probably a tad over 7 seconds.

My 4900lbs bohemouth lumbers from naught to sixty around 13.8 or so...

My other car? 0-60 is for spinning the tires, real power comes on in triple digits. If I had a decent launch and good traction, probably 4.7 to 4.8 territory.

I think with a fresh 22re and 5spd I can get to 60 in 14 seconds or so... probably taking it to 5000rpm or more though.

mine is pretty quick.

i got a 4.10 gearing and in 2wd it does get up and go.
i never timed it (B/C i also drive a bmw when i want fast) but i will next time i take it out (its a d.d. so on monday).

also, the topend is fairly new on mine.

lots of cars try to pass me, and i stress try. b/c they must think "o, a big old truck. i can cut them off.".....nope. it does happen, but rarely. and they gotta be in a fast car. (i dont tailgate, but i also know where the gas pedal is)
