Which will work on a '94 4x4 22re? How many different choices are there?

All 4x4 trans will work back into the 80s if you get the transfer case with it. They must be out of a 22re truck. In 89ish they went to the G52 and the shifters are forward about 3 inches. So if you get a pre-89 you may have to cut your floor a bit to get it in. So if you want a direct swap get any 4cyl after 89. Your choices are the W56 and G52 trans. Some say W56's are stronger but I have never had a problem with any g52s.

Why do they have to be out of an injected truck, the block is the same. And another option is the R151 from a turbo truck its the choice of champions.

Is that correct? I didn't know the r151 from a turbo would fit a 22re. Does it require an adaptor?

its the G58 they used not the G52 (that was in the 80s). And they still used the W56 but the G58s came with vehicles that had auto hubs (ask me how i know).
I wouldnt bother with any you have to cut for. dont make my mistake, measure how far yours is from the bellhousing to the shifter and get a tranny with the same distance heh. I have an 89 4runner but my shifters are in the standard pre 89 place (swaped trannys PO perhaps??).

Didn't all 4x4 trucks and 4runners from 85-88 and 89 4runners with a 22re have W56's, with the exception of autos of course.
