What is this valve called?

3VZE.






Its making a loud ticking noise does that mean it needs to be replaced?

That's not the EGR. The EGR is on the passenger side of the engine and sits in front of the Reed valve. Both the EGR and Reed valves connect to the passenger side exhaust manifold. I can't remember what that one is off the top of my head. Sorry.

yup i was just gonna say that, the egr is kinda goldish and on the pass side...I dunno what that is I can find in the FSM but can't find a name for it.

Is it the FPR then? I might've gotten the two mixed up. Either way, they both tick I think.

That's the fuel pressure regulator, and I think it's supposed to tick, at least mine did for the 6 years I drove a 3.0.

What's the dashpot do? I know it dampens something, but what?

Dashpot is like a shock absorber for the throttle linkage. It slows the throttle closing speed when you let off the gas, reduces backfiring and emissions. It is spring loaded, and has an air bellows inside with a check valve and filter on the vent line. Make sure it moves freely, filter not clogged and it should work fine.

That too but its a lighter click. That little valve clicks like mad. Well as long as its running smoothly as a 3.0 can Guess its not much of a complaint.

i have been trying to find out what has been ticking in my truck since i got it. i gave up because all of you told me to...haha...now i just tell everybody that asks why it makes that noise.."thats the noise that lets me know its running"
