On the new (to me) 4runner I just got there was a box in it that I can guess is the cruise control. it has a cable that goes out of it and to the gas pedal, and the wiring goes out and into the back of the dash.

I'm lacking the controls and the cruise control on/off switch I know for certain; but I didn't know if there was a computer in this box, of if I should be looking for another cruise control computer somewhere else in the cab.

then a day ago I went picking through a guys garage for old toyota parts, and I found another one that was identical to the one in my 4runner (plus the steering column shroud with the cruise controls on it). I'm still trying to figure out if I need a control box somewhere in the cab or not.

So now I have 2 of these, one installed already and one sitting in a box in the garage (either to be put in my other 4runner, or just to be sold on craigslist/ebay)

anyways, here are some pix in case anyone knows off memory what kind they are? they do not look like all the ones I am looking up for the 4runner, which is an actuator that looks like a canister, and a control box that sits in the cab above the fuse box.

I've been looking online for more info on these and haven't been able to find any. A guy who scrapps and sell 4runner parts has a small collection of these on his shelves from various toyotas, but all the online stuff I can find is for the actuator ones.

I'm trying to hunt down a wiring diagram, so I can figure out how to wire it in. the way it was wired into the ignition and ecu was definitely done by the previous owner, but I have no clue what goes to what. I am going to get the wiring diagrams for the ignition wiring and ecu and try to back trace and guess what each wire from the cruise control does, but it will be guesswork unless I can find a wiring diagram for the cruise control device, or even a name for it.

I had one that had that in it. Pulled it out and chunked it.

Looks like a dealer installed cruise. That is definitely not a Toyota part.
