What should I ask 4 '92 4Runner?

Checked out a '92 4Runner SR5 4x4 with 158XXXkms/98XXXmi no rust, 22RE, 5sp. It drove really well compared to my '91 p/u with a 22RE. Interior is mint with no smells or stains, rear window works great, engine bay is super clean, frame looks mint along with the rest of the undercarriage and components. Here's the thing, it's at a Chrysler dealership on their used lot and they are asking $7995Cdn for it. There was some body work done on it at the rear wheel wells...the common places but it was done right with all metal. I put an offer of $4000 and he said I'd have to talk to so-and-so (owner) and talk price. Should I ask for less? I can only get $800 tops on a trade so I'll be selling my truck privately in hopes to get a couple/few grand. What do you guys think is a reasonable offer? It is in awesome shape compared to my truck but it's still a 15 year old 4Runner. Please, any opinions comments are welcome.

That price seems a little high, but what do you expect with a dealership. I think as long as evrything is in good shape and you know you wont be replacing shocks or tires or anything is as a alright deal.
I bought a 93 pickup for 5300, but spent about 2500 on tires, wheels, shocks, balljoints....

I checked a couple sites out for pricing and it seems to be anywhere from $3400 to $6300 but that's for a top notch condition Runner. I think my offer of $4000 is reasonable especially if I can unload my truck. Just gotta convince my significant other....she gets really frustrated with my truck...so do I but I love it. Maybe if she saw a 'nice' lookin Runner like this might change things. Here's a little pic of the Runner, I forgot to bring my camera but this is from their site.

No way....the only reason I'm looking at this Runner is cause it's a 4cyl. I love my 22RE now and would only get the 3.4 if it was a 6. That's just me though, I've always owned 4cyl cars and trucks despite their lack of power.

Well we offered the $4000 then he said no, $6500. We countered with $4200 then $4500. He said $5500 then my girlfriend and I talked aside...we has agreed that $5000 would be tops plus tax provided it was safetied properly and that I could have a look underneath on a hoist to check to see how bad/good the undercarriage was. When we agreed on $5000 he slid in this $296 admin. fee that is charged with every car on their lot....that put a red flag up and broke a certain trust with this guy and he wanted us to 'sign' until we talked to Joe-blow owner...we ran...well, drove slowly away in my truck for further discussion. I'm just wondering if they're hiding anything else...we noticed an every so slight exhause/oil smell...once when I drove it and once when she drove it and I asked if a compression check could be done...I'd even pay if on a conditional agreement..if it failed, I'm out. We might go back today to talk with this other guy but my Toyoty senses are tingling...in a bad way. It's too bad because it is a really nice Runner and for our price, it's not that unrealistic.

This sale is still in the works....if I can only get a couple grand for my current truck would it be worth it to keep it as a parts truck? Is the front end on a '92 4Runner...ball joints, idler/pitman arms etc. interchangeable with my '91 p/u? They are going to 'safety' the Runner but if somethings gonna go in the next year or two, it would be nice to have parts. Any thoughts or suggestions? We've put a cap of $6000 that is tax incl on this thing put still shooting for $4000-$5000 tax inlc...that also if there's no major probs with it. I still can't believe the interior is mint, mint, and frame has surface rust plus the tailgate 2-3inches down has a couple bubbly spots that can be fixed. Man this gets stressful...decisions, decisions...help!
