What seats will interchange?

I've got a 87 4runner and the front seats (mainly driver's side) is completely worn out. I'm looking on various forums, craigslist, and salvage yards for a new set of front seats. I've found several, just not sure if they will fit. Are the 4runner bucket seats the same as the pickup? What year 4runner seats will interchange? Thanks!

I'm about 85% positive that so long as you swap from the pre-90's rigs you'll be *ok*
better if you can get it out of another runner, but I *think* the pickup is similar, have a looksie under that seat and check out the bolt situation, head to a junk yard and check them out too, if it looks close enough for gub'ment work snag it.

Any front seat out of an 86-95.5 4runner will swap in. The back seats will also as long as you have the same type of seat in there already. I don't know about the truck seats though.

Ccan anyone else verify that seats from a newer (90-95) 4runner will bolt right up? I'm having trouble finding 86-89 seats in good shape, I may have better luck with the 90-95's, but I don't wanna have to modify them to make it all fit.

Front bucket seats from a 1990 4runner will not fit 1988 4runner bucket seat location without modification , bolt holes are not the same . Tried it ....

I hear this is just about a bolt-in job.

I am in the process of putting 90' 4runner seats in an 86'. The driverside bolt right in. The passenger side I switched the track bases. The back bench was a different story... I had to drill new holes for the seat hinges and modify the striker bolt to the horse shoe style by welding steel plates in and lowering the striker. I little bit of a pain but the seats are much more comfortable.

I put some 2nd gen 4Runner seats in my 3rd gen pickup. Three out of four mounting holes line up.
For the fourth, you will need to swap the seat belt bolt for the seat mount bolt and a little modification.
- Get 6 washers ( 3/4" i think...).
- Using you're favorite metal cutting instrument (grinder, sawzall, hack swap, file, whatever), Extend the hole in the seat bracket to make it look like a two pronged fork.
- Use the seat belt bolt to for the seat bracket and use the seat bracket bolt for your seat belt.
- Put two washers underneath the bracker, one above, and bolt 'er down.

- If you've afraid that this is too hoky-poky, get some higher grade bolts for your seat belt bolts. Or grind off the nuts for the seat bracket and seat belt, and weld on some proper sizes and grades for their application.

I don’t know if you even need to do that Wii Tard. The front seats I salvaged from a second gen. 4runner bolted right into the original holes on my first gen. 4runner. The reason I took the seat base off of the passenger side and put it on the new seats is so that I could use the lever to slide the passenger seat up to let back seat passengers in and out.

More of what I'm looking at is swapping say Honda civic seats into my runner.

I'm running Leather bucket seats out of a Lexus in my 87, not ideal in the AZ heat - but they were cheap! And they came out of a International Scout - not even a Lexus! lol. Just a minor bend to the bracket with a bfh and a slight lengthening of one of the mounting holes into a slot and they fit fine. There are allot of things that will work.

I have seats from a late 80's toyota sedan (corola?) can't remember for sure what, something with 2 doors.

Easy install bend front part of the bracket with a hammer, cut off metal pins and drill 2 holes.

I know a guy who put some Acura bucket seats into his 92 pickup. He said most Acura seats should fit with some minor drilling of the new bracket.

On 1st gen 4Runners the passenger side front rails are shorter cause it slides forward.

On early model pickups, like my 85 ext cab, the front rails are the same on both sides.

So on the passenger side the seats won't swap out as the rails are different lengths.
