I don't have a 3.0 anymore, but it sure looks like that could be it. Check out this link: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/classi...-location.html.

It connects to the knock sensor wire underneath the throttle body(via the knock sensor wire connector shown below, the connector types shown in the link are the 92-95 style).

You might have to remove the air intake hose from the throttle body, but probably not the entire throttle body(though it might be easier if you did). I can plug/unplug mine without even removing the hose(but yours might be more difficult).

If you can't find it right where it should be(underneath and just to the right of the throttle body), then maybe it's missing?

Yeah I pulled the intake hose off I think it's missing or buried I'm going to take it to a good mech to try and finish this thing up. The harness that I show in the pic is badly frayed, can it be replaced or is it part of the main harness? Also mudhippy is there anything else that should be done while I'm have the knock sensor/ wire done? Thanks for all the safe advice

It would be a nightmare to replace those wires, since they are part of the "main"/engine harness. Maybe you can cut out the frayed end(s) there and splice in new wire(s).

Not if everything else is working as it should be. I'm more of the if it ain't broke, don't fix it type. Though you could have them check the valve clearances for you, since the plenum chamber will likely be removed(and likely the intake manifold too). Which may or may not result in having the valves adjusted too(if they're too tight).

Hey, you should help this guy out. Consider it a return favor...for me helping you.

Well my mechanic has it tore down and the wire was missing. Mudhippy u were dead on like always. There was a bi metal temp switch in the back behind intake that was bad it had to be order from toy so it's gonna be Friday before she is buttoned up I hope I did right by not buying a new knock sensor but with the wire gone I'm hoping that's all it is

Well, I picked her up today and no check engine light is on fingers crossed. It is running pretty good I have overdrive now code 52 is a real pain. One problem I am still having is it has a slight wiggle or shake the trans feels fine I think it just needs the harness cleaned and fresh lube. Seems like I read where that cured another simLr issue on here. The thing use to drop oil like the Exxon Valde or whatever lol. Wish me luck
