what is this part called?

what is this and what is it used for .I broke off one of the little tips .Please help for i am not knoweledgeable in this genere. The part im talking about is the canister with two tips and hoses on it thank you.

Charcoal Canister....it's a container filled with activated charcol that stores gasoline vapors untill it is the right time for them to be drawn into the engine and burned.

that would be correct. if the hoses are broken it will drop your gas mileage by letting gas evaporate out of the tank. im having a hard time seeing exactly where they are broken (right on the right edge?)

That black thing on the firewall with the larger hose on the top along with the vacuum line is the charcoal canister.

Which thing is he talking about in the first picture? The black can or the blue-green vacuum solenoid?

The blue green thing is a vacum control valve. Basically its a relay the opens/closes the vac line.

You DONT want to know what they cost at the dealer ($$$).

That is specific to the 22rte trucks, I can't remember what it's for but I'll look at my tsrm when I get home and get back with you. I bypassed it on my turbo truck a few years ago with no ill affects.
