What much $ is my runner worth, 4 insurance purposes
i posted about a month ago about my 4runner being stolen, it has not been recovered. so i am trying to get what it is worth with all the modifications on it from the insurance company. they only want to give me $3000 because that is the market value for a stock 4runner. so can anyone tell me what you think my runner is worth or if you have bought or sold a runner or truck built similarly to mine how much did you buy/sell it for, and do you have a copy of the bill of sale. i pretty much have to prove to the insurance company that my heavily modified 88 4runner is worth 6-7 k and not 3k. here are the specs and pics
Trail gear 5inch SAS kit
Trail gear 5 inch rear lift
longfields upfront
yukon 5.29s front and rear
aussie lockers front and rear
trail gear dual case adapter
trail gear dual case cross member
trail gear rock sliders
marlin crawler front stinger bumper
hunsaker sport seats
35inch brand new goodyear mtrs on crawler rims
sony deck unit with ipod connection
2 10in subes
premium speakers with amp
roof rack
custom rear bumper

I think it would depend on your ins. co. Like with mine, when it was stolen, they not only took the blue book value, but also whatever receipts I had showing the modifications to the vehicle, ie... The receipts showing the purchase of the stereo equip. as well as the install price, lift kit plus install and everything else I could prove with receipts. If you have receipts, you should be able to claim it. I kept all mine.

If you haver reciepts it might help. I know its that way here, but they also only cover a certain amount of aftermarket parts... You might get a few more bucks, but you might be screwed out of most of your money.

i have every receipt for each item i put on the truck the total of all my receipts was in the 8k range. i scaned them and faxed them to usaa (which is really good insurance). but they only added 1k for the mods i did the initial price they gave me was 1800 then they went to 3100 for the truck.
i was thinking if i had copies of other people bills of sale for when they bought or sold a truck similar to mine i would be able to prove what the market value for a modified vehicle like mine really is.

Good luck on getting any more than $3100. One of the things your insurance rates are based on is the value of the truck. waskillywabbit is right; if you don't have a rider for all the mods you’re pretty much stuck. Sorry

Scour CL and YT classifieds for anything like your truck, even the page of the going value is enough proof.
If you really need it maybe you can plead your case to someone who has just sold a truck like yours on here...
Sorry to hear about your loss man, I know how it is..
Good luck and keep us updated..

If you paid with a credit card, they may be able to help you with the receipts left in the glove box, or you could just try using your statements as a receipt. Also if you had a shop do any kind of install on something, you could ask them to look it up and re-issue you a new rec. I have USAA also and they have been pretty flexible and most accommodating.

Sorry to hear about your truck.
I hope you can get them to give you more than 3100. I second searching CL and YT for ones similar to your truck.
I don't mean to sound stupid but when the wabbit said this
What did he mean by added all those parts as a rider???

They would only cover the blue book value of the truck (it was totalled in an accident) but I had stuff like a TRD supercharger put on it and some other things that totalled about another 4-5 grand on top of it. I fought and fought and at the end of the day they only gave me an extra 2 grand back.
Good luck.

was your insurance company made aware of the extras before it was stolen? If it wasn't in your policy then I think you are screwed. Everything needs to be documented & submitted to your insurance before anything like this were to happen.
