What fits? Blew up two trannies

Hey guys, need advice. I've got and '86 Runner 22RE. Smoked and input bearing last year, got a parts truck swapped tranny's, all good. Three weeks ago the 2nd input bearing went and truck was stuck in 4th gear. Took the 1st tranny in to get fixed $850 2nd tranny $800 and some parts from 1st tranny. Junk both and time to find something. So what transmissions will bolt in? What years and which vehicle? Gotta find something soon and cheap

Thanks,
Twolf

After $1600 and two transmissions, go to Marlin.. I sure hope that $800 fee included pull out and install - there's a shop here that would flat-fee rebuild for $300.

Marlin can provide you with a HD version of that transmission - bigger bearings and alternet gearsets. No, they're not cheap ~$1k - but it'll be the last transmission you ever need...

Last I recall (almost 10 years ago BTW)
Junkyard wanted $400-$500 for a W56 tranny with a "warranty" (meaning if it was broken you could get yer money back but labor was your problem).
Back in those days - $800 or so got you a rebuilt Marlin tranny - DONE RIGHT.

Or you could be dumb (like I was) and get it rebuilt local for $900+ (and I brought the trans IN - at that time Marlin was not advertising rebuilt trannies).

I get about 100K to 150K out of a w56 before 5th gear tosses...
