Hey guys, My 3.0 has 233000 miles on it. Just bought it from a guy for $2500. I really want to change out the fuel filter. The story on the vehicle is that it sat up for a couple of years and the guy I bought it from was in the process of fixin a few things. He changed out the fuel tank and pump and now I want to replace the fuel filter. Went to change it and Son of a female dingo , I cant get it off. I used snap on line wrenchs, PB Blaster, I know Im dumb but a torch to heat up fitting, nothing seems to work. The fittings were just not breaking loose. Any ideas. Only thing I can think of is to cut out the filter and re-flare the lines. Has anyone had this problem, what have you done?

you left the filter bolted to the frame to aid in leverage right? i had no problems with mine. but try pouring some brake fluid over the fittings. wipe the drips so you dont mix the fluid and fuel together when you replace the filter. let that brake fluid sit for a little while. a junkyard guy gave me brake fluid to use on some rusted bolts when i was fetching some exhaust parts from another runner. it worked great on the rust. is it rusty at all? or clean and just being a pita...

I left it bolted. I will try the brake fluid trick.

Doesn't the filter have a place on it to put a wrench so you can put some extra torque on the fitting? I know the 22re's does....

Another thing to 'maybe' try... since you're brave enough to torch on it (actually not much of a problem as long as the system doesn't open and the fuel doesn't have any air in it) is heat it up and while it's still hot, spray some pb or wd on it as it cools. The cooling should draw the lube into the fittings (like how a plumber 'sweats' or brazes copper pipe together) and maybe help loosen it.

Snip snip. I cut the lines, then used fuel Injector hose connected a larger fuel filter. Best $10 I ever spent. Now I can replace it yearly in 10 minutes. Piece of cake.

I appreciate the tips guys. Yeah I held on tight to the nut on the filter and torqued the line wrench. I will try the pb blaster too. Do you have pictures of the injector hose setup.
