What is the difference between 2 pinoin and 4 pinion?

ok hear me out.

both 4cylinders and v6 model pickups come with a 2"pinion" carrier but when ordering gears they ask you if its v6 or 4cylinder not if its 2 pinion or 4 pinion.

so does this mean that the 4cylinder takes a different gear?

also does this mean that no matter what, even though the v6 is a 2pinion carrier, it is still stronger than the 4cylinder 2 pinion even though they look identical.

one more thing. if i were to weld the v6 2pinion carrier will it be as strong as the 4pinion carrier welded, im sure it wont but i doesn hurt to ask.

im sorry for being a pain in the ass but i want to get my stuff straight and do it as right as i can the first time.

ok its a stronger housing... but are the spider gears stronger as well?

and would a spool or welded diff level the playing field to where i dont have to worry about finding a v6 and or diff with 4 ribs on it. because thats really all i am asking. will a welded diff basically make the 2spiders or 4 spiders irrelevant, as long as its a r ribbed v6 case

Weld up what you got and quit worrying about finding something else. 4 cyl 6 cyl diffs, never seen any significant difference. Only benefit is if you put a high pinion in the front.
