Red face What controls the Oil Sending (idiot light?) For the 4runner

Ok

im wondering what controls the oil sending for the 4runner becuase isnt the oil sender unit just the idiot ligh contol

im going to install an aftermarket oil gauge by the way and just wondering how the system works

i have no idea what im talking about but i need help

the sender is a switch that is open when the pressure is high, and is closed when the oil pressure is too low, thus triggering the idiot light.
