What carburetor kit?

I have got 89 toyota pick up with that crap of a design "electric carburetor". I am trying to get some technical information as to what carburetor to pick for my truck, from what i know i have 2 to pick from (weber is all i'd use) thee : 38 DGES and 32/36 DGEV. I know that the 38 is 1:1 ratio throttle opening vs the progressive 32/36 one throttle plate opening before the other.

now, I know that the 32/36 would have a torque feel to it beacuse its progressive and id get better gas milage. what is the CFM rating on this carberator does anyone know what CFM this carberator is capable till before it chokes out id like to know for personal reasons i know this little 22r isnt going to RPM like a Formula engine but just to know..

what is the CFM rating on the 38 DGES??

all the numbers i have came up with are all theretical numbers as far as carberation size because i dont know what the Volumetric efficiency, or what CFM bench flow capabiliy the manifold or cyclinder head is for this motor at different RPMs, i dont want to do like everyone does and over-carb it out of size. i dont like monkey ish. i'd like to do it right as per application

but id like to know what the CFM ratins are for each of these carbs are and does any one run these?? how is the gas milage on the 38 1:1 ratio carb. like is it bad? or good whats theoretic HP increase??

please some let me know whats up with these carbs!

id really appricate it...

I second this. How about 32/36 vs. the 38 performance wise. I'm looking for solid off idle torque, dont need a ton of top end. how does the 32/36 perform over stock and how does the 38 compare?

Stock 22R Aisan 326 cfm
Weber 32/36 DGEV IC 325 cfm
Weber 34 DGEC 300 cfm
Weber 38 DGES 390 cfm

But cfm doesn't tell the whole story - all of those probably have same or more power than the stock Aisan, and the 32/36 & 34 DGEC give slightly better mileage.

The stock Aisan is not at all a bad carb, and is less "fussy" than the Webers. NAPA sells good rebuild kits - bring in the carb number from the aluminum tag.

You may want to consider the 34 DGEC, which is also a progressive, having 34mm primary & secondary bores. It's reported to have a bit snappier throttle response than the 32/36. Most sources report mileage similar to the 32/36, apparently because the slightly larger primary doesn't require the secondary to open as often.

The 38 will give a bit more power over the stock Aisan and worse mileage.

Yet another option is the "36 Synchro", apparently a version of the 34 DGEC with dual 36mm bores and synchronous throttles, giving, like the 38, a bit more power and worse mileage.

I've read that the two-piece adapters often leak, so try for a one-piece if possible. I've also read that you may have to experiment with a couple different jets before you get the carb working the way you want.

This company offers some good deals on conversion kits, but check them out since I don't know anything about them:

You might find some good deals on ebay, too.

EDIT: Apparently, some "Webers" aren't Webers: http://genuineweber.blogspot.com/
