I have a 1990 4runner running 42" irocks and it is bobbed to the back doors. I dont know what the stock wheel base is but i stretched it from what it wa to 110". I just want to see what people think is the best wheel base.

Stock is 103.3", and a great balance of stability and breakover angle IMHO.

110" is on the longish side for trails around here. 121" (extended or double cab) is far too long IMHO.

I see you extended the lowers - did you do anything with the uppers?

atleast 100 and up to 110 is real good mines about 105 I think.

I take last statement back because of tire size.

Running 42's Ide say 110 to 120 is perfect. I would also move that front forward 1-2" and add some weight to the rear maybe

I shortened mine up to 121"

I just finished the rear suspension last night. I stretched all the links like 36" from stock. The uppers now go from the pumkin to just above the lowwers bracket. It is a triangulated 4-link so i dont think i will need a panhard bar.

So what did you do with the gas tank then?

If you just added 36" to the lowers and the uppers, your uppers are likely still WAY too short. PM me your email address and I'll send you a 4Link calculator.

The uppers are only like 3" shorter than the lowers. I dont remember how much i added lol that was just a guess. i can find out for sure later tonight. I just finished moving the coil buckets way back and added my shocks. I mounted the shocks inline with the coil from the lower links up to the frame. i think this should work fine for now. I am planning on going with a coilover setup soon but had to make do with what i had.

Here is the stock setup (without a panhard bar). The uppers are less than half as long as the lowers (stock)

Thats kinda like asking the peanut gallery what the best tire is.

With your rig and tire size, I think you will notice an improvement in stability.

just thought ... did you move the rear axle back? If so, what did you do for springs/shocks?

I moved the coil buckets back and put the shocks on the lower bars. The only problem i have is when i flex the coil falls out.

Well i did but it includes about $600 worth of air shocks lol.
