So I know besideds the obvious, harder time stearing, what would be the cons to welding your front spiders if you got manul locking hubs? I think it would be kinda ballin cuss you could still lock 1 side and not the other to get manul selectable front locker. Thanks for the info. Alojah`s!

Do you really want to get into and out of your truck on the trails to select/deselect on corners and straights?

i have buddies that run a welded front they swear by it but i wouldnt do it on ifs or stock birfields. other than that i've heard no complaints.

Well my buddies dont get out to unlock they just run locked all the time i guess it depends on your terrain. It's slick out here

meh, I would say steering as well..
You have the right Idea about a selectable locker kinda, but your only gonna be in 2H or 2L if you only have one hub locked in..

Id say just save for an arb..

Not true it will be like 4 hi or 4 lo with open front.. one wheel always has to spin

I guess that makes sense al, I was thinking, Tourqe has to go to the side of least resistance, ie unlocked side, but if its welded then yeah...my bad...

just auto-lock the rear and leave the front alone

if you still have issues, then throw a selectable (or another auto) up front

I run welded front with ifs and 32's. I have no problems with it, at all. Ille never go back. if i was rich id get a sectible for sure, but im not. welded or spooled kicks the poop out of an auto locker any day, hands down, in the rear especialy.

Hehehe wow lots of responce and fast. Well for same price I can get a front selectable I could weld the front and get hydro stearing (then im sure Ill start breaking stuff) I dont do it simply cuss I break enugh things and I dont offroad nearly enugh.

i would do an auto front and welded rear if your worried about breaking. i'm welded rear and about to weld front when i get my front axle built up

ive got a welded front on my sas'd 86. ive only had it out a few times since ive put it together and its a pain in the ass to turn around at dead ends on trails for sure. im wondering, is it safe to have the front hubs unlocked and have it in '4 lo' to use my low range in 2wd, or will it mess stuff up?

I ran a lockrite up front and swear it never unlocked so I said screw it I'll run a welded up front.

I dont find turning a problem on tight trails you get used to a new way of driving a fe wtow of three point turns and you start to drift your way in positions.

The problem is its really really really hard on parts but with all that is broken I am still goin welded front after i resetup my 5.29's

oh btw i dont get out an unlock ever its too much of a pain in the butt I jsut back up and try again or drive over it or put it in 2wd and drift the truck

Hehehe carnage!!!! Wewt, now its getting intersting. But on the road wiht your hubs unlocked and 2h stearing isnt a issue? On the trail would you think having the spiders welded and hydrolic stearing would cause more damage?

No, if the hubs are unlocked the axles just chill.
