Weird electrical issues...

For the past couple of months, if I start from a stop a little slow, my stereo would shut off and come back on when I got the RPMs back up to 800 or so. I didn't think anything of it because my system draws alot of power.

Today, when I turned on any electrical switch (Blinkers, fan, AC, etc...) the stereo would shut off and come back on, and when my blinkers were on my dash lights would flash between dim and bright.

I got a new interstate battery in february... so I doubt that is the problem.

Is there maybe a single fuse that is a master fuse for all of the cabin electronics?

Weird electrical problems always seem to end up being the alternator. Search "weird" and most likely, you'll come up with posts about two things; the alternator and Swampthing.

I bet you find you need to replace the alternator brushes (about $10). The part is the same whether you have a 22RE or a V6, my autoparts store said they only had the V6 alternator brushes, and I have a 22RE, I bought them and installed them and the alt works fine. Whole job takes less than 2hrs for an amateur providing you can figure out how to solder.

Hell.

I'll probably just install a new alternator.

Might as well just for the piece of mind.

Well, considering that option is going to cost 20x more than the brushes and only going to save you half an hour (your still going to have to pull, and re-attach the alt), I think that is unwise. There is nothing wrong with the alternator, its just used up its only wearable parts. That's like replacing your whole front suspension because the swaybar bushings are worn. Or replacing you whole brake system cause your pads are worn.

It is a one beer job. I'll pm you my address if you want to send me a check for the money this is going to save you.
