weird cooling issue

My 90 22 re runner has been pushing all the coolent out of the over flow tank since I bought it I have replaced the radiator, radiator cap and the thermostat the worst case was yesterday morning it started to heat up so I stopped popped the hood and saw coo lent and steam shooting out of the overflow cap I wait for a few min started her up and same thing started heating back then it dropped back to normal temp so I'm thinking bad thermostat or I'm hoping its not a bad HG any help would be great

Oh on another note I don't know if this might be caused by my cooling problem but when I shut it off at operating temp it is hard to start amd idles very low and sometimes stalls I usually have to give it gas to keep it running untill I drive it a few miles then it will idle normally which is a lil rough I have replaced afm, plugs, plug wires, cap and rotor I just can't figure this thing out

Hook a rad/cap pressure tester up to it while it is running and see what the pressure gets up to. If its over 16lbs you might be looking at a HG.

I was looking at it tonight amd I completly filled the radiator I don't think its the HG when I reved it up while it was warm with the cap off the level went down and I think I found the problem the its really stupid I think the cap on the over flow cap was put on backwards by the PO the tube that goes in the overflow tank was on the vent tube side so any time the rad tried to release any pressure it would push coolent up and out but the other problems are still driving me crazy any idea on those would help

You said you replaced the T-stat? I'd say its still no good or its installed up side down. Who replaced the radiator? Was it you or a low end shop? The system my have not beem bleed? Take the rad cap off and run the truck see if bubbles are coming out of the coolant in the rad. If so there is air in the system. Water pump? Fan spinning properly? Fan clutch? Check oil for milk color. Does it run rough? Check compression.

It runs rough but I replaced the rad my self and I also just replaced the fan clutch I bleed the rad the best I could tonight when I was working on it there were no bubbles and I reved it and when it went down I had a friend pour coolent in and put the cap on and I haven't noticed milky oil but one night I looked in the oil cap and there was a whiteish goo in the top of it I shruged it off due to condisation and no there are no codes I have not had the chance to check to compression I might try to do that tommorrow
