some drunk guy

So lately my 95 4runner braking system does not feel as it should. Sometimes when I step on the brakes, and hold the pedal at a stop light, the idle really drops and engine almost dies, but usually recovers after a couple seconds. Also, the pedal feels soft sometimes, and then everyone in a while it will be super hard to push. Sometimes it starts off soft then hardens instanly and I feel like I'm not going t o be able to stop. I pulled the vacumm hose off the booster and it defiantly was holding vacumm. Are these symptoms of a bad master? What would cause the idle to drop on the engine besides the booster?

Definitely sounds like some kind of leak in the booster. Perhaps an intermittent leak? Never taken one apart, but maybe there's a seal or something that leaks when the pushrod is a certain way?

I had the same prob with my breaks I ended up having to replace my break cylinder in the rear due to a bad boot

x2 on brake booster. A bad cylinder would only affect pressure to the brakes and have nothing to do with the idle.
