weber/holly carb on a 22r cali smog legal
So... my 22r is slow, blah. Im not about to mess with the stock carb on this thing, im scared of all the vacume and weird electronic Stuff...
So, weber or holly carb, lc engineering headers and maybe a lighter flywheel before i do some head and cam goodies.
im worried about california smog, i jsut had my truck smoged and it passed with flying colors, allll stock.
Anyone have the 2 barrel carb and exhaust and still pass cali smog? or do i need to move up to f.i or better yet a 3.4, that would be sweet in a 2x4.
Im thinking about building a nasty street truck, sleeper status on a meduim budget, or a pre runner. Dont get me wrong, im saving up for a earlie 80s 4x4 long bed.
Lemme know what you think, Thanks Joe

well ya got 2 years to put it on drive around before you drop the 3.4 in...which will have to pass at the 3.4 levels.
i dont think youd have (CARB) issues if it were tuned properly. def need it to have all the vaccuum hoses connected (or no longer visible )
take it in to a ref and ask ???

you can use aftermarket, you just gotta have it tuned properly. cali is so screwed up in terms of emmissions testing. tho i like that they smog every 2 years, here in vegas its every year

It has been posted several times that there is little difference in the performance of the weber over the properly working Aisin carb. Also, the weber gets considerably worse mileage over the stock Aisin.
Get a good kit and rebuild your carb. It'll run better than it has in years if not decades. It'll also get better MPG's

Is there a quality difference between a Holley carb and a Weber carb? Which is reccomended. I wouldn't install one anytime soon... I live in CA sonoma county and the city I live in only requires smog when you sell a vehicle.
