weber carb choke question
so i have a "weber" 34 on my 87 and it runs pretty good. although everytime i start it, it acts like its cold and will rev up to about 2k rpms. whether the engine is warm or cold it will always do this. I have the electric choke hooked up and confirmed it had power with the key on.
any thoughs?
thanks

The Weber 34/34? I had one before I went EFI. Choke worked awesome, but man I couldn't get it to quit flooding on uphill... tried like 4 different FPR and nothing was working.
The FSM for carbed trucks says initial high idle is like 2,600 RPM. I'm not a big fan of cold motors revving that high, so I cooled it down to 1,800.
The electric choke should be adjustable. In the morning, when its nice and cold, yank off the air cleaner and loosen the choke bi-metallic spring housing screws. Depress the throttle fully to actuate the choke flap. Then rotate the choke housing to draw the flap open. Then rotate back until the flap JUST BARELY closes completely. Tighten housing screws. That should do it.
The high idle cam should disengage as soon as you touch the throttle again, regardless of choke setting. If this is not working, inspect the throttle parts (back side of the carb I believe?) for hang ups and bent twangs. Clean liberally. Lubricate conservatively.
FYI, where is your PCV hooked to? I had the JTOutfitters conversion and the carb adapter was CHEEEEAP. The PCV on this particular kit hooked to the fitting in the carb adapter, but the fitting was located in a part of the adpater that couldn't circulate AIR! Ended up blowing out a seal.... stupid chinese junk.
