We got a smoker!!!!!

Not sure if its rings or something in the head or even a head gasket. I did a dry compression check two cylinder were a little low. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Well it could be a lot of things, but the most obvious thing, and the cheapest thing to check is the PCV valve. If you have a vacuum gauge hook it up to the breather port, start the truck and it should rise between 3-5 inHg pretty quickly if the PCV is working.

If that checks out then do the wet compression check.

well I got a new pcv valve and it still smokes but I think its using coolant because it was low so I added some ill have to run it some to see if its usin it up.

yup pretty sure its rings did a wet and dry compression test and two of the cylinders that had lower compression rose on a wet compression test

Low on coolant you say ey? Sure dang sounds like the head gasket to me. Unless it has a coolant leak somewhere.

Check your oil and see how it looks? Milky, different color? If not, then your HG may still be fine. Are you burning oil? Could be a valve seal (if yes). Those two are the major issues. Eliminate those, and your problem minimizes as you work through them.

I had an issue with a stuck piston ring. I used BG109 (got it from ebay). I got two cans. I used one can and brought my compression from 140, 155, 122, 138 to 170, 165, 160, 168. Pretty good stuff.

HOWEVER, that does not solve the issue of the valve seal. Although there is a workaround to removing it while under air compression without removing the head. I got lucky and found a better used engine. Since mine needed more work than it was worth, I went that route.

That however, may not be the issue here. So, eliminate the other issues. Rent some tools, get the FSM, and clear some time.
