Water temp. Sensor

What does this part do? Does it tell when the truck is warm enough to drive? I remember seeing a thread about using something like a ohms to trick the ECU that it is connected and working, to think it is warm.. Can someone link the thread or website for the water temp. sensor because I cannot find it, I was giong to try using the ohms but autozone.com saying that it produce a high resistance of 100,000 ohms should I get the one with 100,000 ohms and try it? Can someone tell me which plugs in the water bypass is the water temp. sensor is? Oh and last of all where does the Engine Temp. Sensor locate at? Thanks in advance..

Did you look in the online FSM? Not sure where the Eng temp sensor is, but here's the ECT. It does what he said...affects fuel mixture. A parts tech at the dealer can tell you where the eng temp sensor is. Don't know about where you live, but the fellows around here are pretty nice that way.
