wacky Air Filter idea....
http://www.cleanstream.com/filters_wetdry.html
Use a Gore Clean Stream as an air filter????
Does it flow enough?
Just curious...
Im going to ASSUME that it does not flow enough or Gore would already be doing this for automotive applications....

That filtration comparison using the pink dust was pretty impressive. Nothing made it through the cleanstream.
Like WATRD said, they need to compare flow on that same test set up.

engine air flow rates
http://www.ajdesigner.com/phpengine/..._flow_rate.php
cc to cid
http://www.4lo.com/calc/literstocid.htm
2.4L =~ 146CID
VE
http://www.installuniversity.com/ins...n_9.012000.htm
use .75 as a baseline
CID = 146
RPM = 5600
VE = .75
>> CFM ~ 180 ft^3 / minute
Shop vacs seem to be rated on "peak" HP and not SCFM...

for those of us that are lazy and dont want to put in any effort for at least another hour or two(just got off work) hows the comparison of flow match up from the stock airbox to the actaully pretty good idea uve come up with?

so what ur saying is that ur not sure if the filter will actually filter enough with the added sucking power of the engine over the shop vac?
or r u saying that the filter wont let enough air in to comply to the sucking power of the engine over the vac?
basically, r u not sure if enough air will get in, or if too much junk will get in?
y couldnt i compress that all in the first place? im not sure.

i would think if anything it wouldnt let enough air in. i would think filtration isnt the issue because it clames to filter down to .3 microns and people are driving around all day with k&n which goes for flow over filtration

lol. true. i still like the idea k&n has though. the oil. stick ur hand in a pile of feathers. now get ur hand wet and stick it in a pile of feathers. thats the k&n difference.

lol. good idea. go straight to the source. msot deff have to keep them oiled. speaking of which i should proally clean mine and re-oil. another 10 bucks down the drain. oiy.

To make that a fair comparison you'd have to have holes in your hand big enough to let some of the feathers through...

Have you guys ever heard of No-toil? It is a company that makes air filters and air filter maint. chemicals for dirt bikes.
I've used their products and they're great. They make a filter oil that is water proof and that can't be removed by anything except their cleaner.
I've been toying with the Idea of running an airfilter setup with their product.
The stuff really works... There cleaner makes the stuff come right off too.
This might be something you guys would be interested in.
