Here's my dilema got my first yota about a month ago. 95 v6 automatic. Last week i noticed vibration whenever i accelerated. The truck needed it regardless so i replaced plugs, wires, cap and rotor and fuel filter with no success. I did a little research and it pointed to my u-joints. I noticed to in my owner manuel and on my driver side sun visor there is a routine maintenance schedule for u-joints. I just want to know if i am on the right track any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks, Eddie

Looks like you might be. I've heard that if they start vibrating, grease will no longer help you. Grease is a preventative, not a savior.

Definitely sounds like a U-joint.

X3 on the u-joint. They are simple to check, just try moving them side to side. If there is any play they are bad.

It's not always that easy. Set e-brake, & with tranny & t-case in neutral, rotate & pull the drive shafts STRONGLY & listen/feel for play.

How are you going to rotate the drive shaft with the rear tires on the ground and the e-brake on? If it is doing in on accelleration day to day I am guessing it is the rear shaft not the front since it isn't spinning.

Thanks people. I appreciate the replies. gonna take a better look this weekend when i have time. I didnt notice any play in the shaft but i checked it while in park.

even checking in park isn't a bad thing. you're looking for slop in the u-joints after all, not in the park pawl, etc.
You're looking to see if you can rotate the driveshaft itself more than you can move the output shaft of the trans / t-case and input to the rear diff and see any play there.
