Unhappy very high idle on 93 4runner 3.0

tha rig is a 93 4runner V6 3.0, automatic trans
the idle speed has been kinda high since i bought it (around 1.5 rpm)
but today it got way worse. rpm in park is 2.5, in neutral its at 3.0, in reverse/drive it goes down to around 2.0
i tried to get home but the rpm is so high that i had to slam the brakes to the floor at the stoplight, and still it kept creeping forward (it ran the red light on its own) there's times when it reached 4 or 5 rpm in neutral

looking around the hoses i notice two spark plug wires were completely corroded at the rotor cap (the inlets at the cap also seemed damaged)
i dont know if this was related by I replaced the rotor, cap, and the two wires
No change on the rpm

please help, its my daily driver!

on the side of the throtle body there is a screw turn that in and it should lower the idle also make sure that the flap is closing all the way too. could be like mind did once and the bolt for the crusie controll fell of and it ran high but it took me a min to figure it out.

i've turned the idle screw once before, it helped me get the rpm under 1.5 before
but this is different, rpm is way higher now
where is that bolt for the cruise control?

the bolt is right next to the idle screw just down to the right it holds the wire from cruise control..

I'd be looking for a vacuum leak somewhere. Probably where the rubber intake boot clamps onto the throttle body plenum. Boot gets brittle and cracks big time. If you have to adjust that screw on the TB, you're probably compensating for a bigger problem. Look around your intake hose for a big crack, may have to remove it to inspect it good, then look around the engine for broken/cracked vacuum lines.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't a vacuum leak cause the idle to go down?

A vacuum leak would make your idle rise, but I wouldn't think that high. Maybe check for a frayed throttle cable.

stuck butterfly valve on the throttle body or a stuck throttle cable is the first places i would start looking can you take the butterfly valve and hold it against the stop and does it still idle high? it could also be a ignition problem but you said you replaced it all right?
Try also screwing in the idle screw back and forth several times sometimes stuff can get stuck in there and lean out the mixture but i don't think it is the culprit.

I GOT IT!
i was checking for any vacuum leaks like many of you advised.
a small hose was completely off!
it helped but the idle was still kinda high,
i checked the throttle cable then, and it was indeed getting stuck
i tightened some bolts, i sprayed some WD all over and BAAAM!!
RPM down to 900... PERFECT!!

THANKS YOTA MASTERS

92 4runner idling at 2000 in park and neutral

Just to add a bit more info to this post. I just bought a 92 3.0 4runner and it was idling at 2000 in park and neutral. I looked under dash and saw that the throttle cable where it connects to the gas pedal was partially sticking sprayed some wd40 on it and pressed the gas pedal a couple of times and presto no more high idle.
