Has anyone installed a Transgo reprogramming kit into an automatic v6 truck. I think the trans is an A340. If so how easy was the DIY install and what is your opinion. Thanks.

I put one in my '88 V6 a few years ago. The install itself was easy enough. Drop the pan, filter, valve body, split the valve body, drill holes/change check balls, reinstall valve body, change accumulator spring, etc. Just follow the instructions.

I ran into a couple problems. My valve body separator plate was a bit beat up where the metal check balls were. I straightened things out as best I could. Also, I needed to replace the valve body gaskets and they do not come with the shift kit. There are so many different gaskets that I had to buy a rebuild kit from a tranny parts supplier to find the correct ones. If you're careful you may be able to reuse your old gaskets.

As for how the kit itself works, the truck hasn't been driven in a long while so I can't remember much, but it did help shifting when cold and shifts were a little firmer. I don't think I had any complaints. Hopefully she'll be on the road again this year...

I have never put a Transgo kit in an A340, but I have used their shift reprograming products in several other different applications with excellent results.

In my experience, they make good products, based on sound engineering principles.

Their shift kits have improved every tranny that I used them in.

I have never been sorry that I spent the money and took the time to put them in the trannys I rebuilt.
