V6 or 22r
I have a 92 toyota V6, 5 speed, it leaks a little water out from the head, about a gallon every month, maybe. The motor was installed from a 4 runner 3-4 years ago, it had 95k miles, I had new HG, seals, everything replaced on the motor that could be replaced, but I was wondering if/when I wanted/needed to replace the motor, if I could swap with a 22r because I have heard and experienced the V6 head gasket problems and are tired of it, I have heard good things about the 22r. I am keeping this truck until it falls apart, it's still in pretty good shape. I would like some thoughts about what would be the best option If I ever decided to do another engine swap.
Oh, I have looked on here for info on this but didn't really find anything.
Thanks for the awesome replies.

I would rater "upgrade" the engine insted of downgrade it to a 22r. Go with a 3.4 or better yet, go 4.0!!!
I am biased though, I have a 22re and had nothing but success with it. It is a solid engine.

theres a lot of "moving" to do if you're goin 4 banger from the v6. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f89/ if you go to that link scroll down a little bit. There is a section that is just engine swaps. 3.4 swaps, domestic swaps, what ever your flavor. its there. I personally went with the 3.4 and i love it.
Heres the section for that https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f160/

x3 on going with the 3.4L. The 22r/re has it's fair share of headgasket and timing chain problems, but its just so much easier to work on.
I love the 22re as well. Its such an awesome motor.

Swapping in the 3.4 would be a much easier swap than swapping in the 22re, due to the fact that all the engine mounts are already there, since there was originally a 3.0, but first I would drive that 3vze engine into the ground, the 3vze isn't a bad motor, it just sucks on gas and power, but it is about 40HP better than the 22re.

Thanks everyone for the replies, I probably will go for the 3.4 when I change, I wanted to start looking at some salvage yards for things I need, I also found this post, https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...engine-152865/ that had great info.
This Site is Awesome! thanks YT
