Update -- Why Crank didn't turn when finding TDC
All,
this is an update to my previous post "87 - 22r TDC with head off ??"
The reason why I was unable to turn the crank over when finding TDC, before I took the head off. THE FREAKEN TRANSMISSION WAS IN GEAR!! This was why I had a bitch of a time trying to rotate the crank.
It was not because of a bad valve, in fact I talked to the machine shop guy today, the valves were replaced because they were too thin to get the proper grind.
So, I'm going to continue and rotate the crank, with the cam sprocket held up high, as to remove the slack from the chain, till I see the shiny link on the dimple of the cam sprocket, the zero on the timing gear, and the top of piston one flat with the top of the block.
Next time, I will always check to make sure the Freakin car is in neutral...
