Cool Unusual blowby 22re at least I think it is blowby??

My 94 22re is doing a strange thing indeed. On the past 4 or 5 wheelling trips I have noticed this: If I drive down a reasonably steep road and then turn around and come back up the same road I get a blueish white smoke coming from the exhaust. It only happens for a few minutes and then disappears. The temp gauge is normal, oil pressure gauge is normal, and no sign of any issue. No power loss or hesitation while the smoke is coming out. My oil level is fine and there doesn't seem to be any visible issue. One time it happened I stopped checked things out and continued. About 2 miles later the "check engine" light came on and then went off.
I have never heard anything like this. Any thoughts on what is going on here would be great..
Here is a rundown on the motor
1994 22re original motor 140, 245 miles
LCE header
Magnaflow exhaust
Timing chain, water pump done 5000 miles ago
Stock cam stock motor
Recent tune up (everything)
Changed o2 sensor about 3000 miles back
the only thing I have done is a new knockoff Magnaflow exhaust and this is when I noticed the smoke. I have determined it is NOT the muffler burning off new metal. I think it is blowby
I need some 22re gurus on the case!!

it sounds like bad valve stem seals or maybe a bad guide. I had a toyota 4age that did the same thing but only on steep downhills

well if thats the deal I suppose I will need to pull the head to have it repaired? Is there any way to diagnose the stem or seal with just the valve cover off?

You can do valve seals with the head on, its a shot in the dark though, bcause you dont really know if the valve stems or the guides being bad wiped out the seals or if the seals are just worn out. I noticed a large reduction in oil consumption and smoke when I used some 20/50 and a bottle of lucas. Its not really a fix but itll kind of give you an idea and if it doesnt change at all, its most likely not oil related

That is great advice. I was planning a wheeling trip this week and I will do an oil change before I head up.

Turns out the oil passage on the left side of the motor was plugged. I ran a long thin Phillips screwdriver all the way through the head and
block and as I did that I felt the passageway plugged. We shall see if that fixed it.

disable the PCV and retest.

You might wanna do it where you can capture what comes out of the PCV though...

By disabling it and testing it, you will be blocking off where it goes into the intake.

I would take the hose apart from the base of the carb and spin it around.

The reason I say capture it is b/c IF the PCV's not properly working and you go up the incline, it may get messy.

I would take the hose that goes from the valve cover to the base of the carb off at the carb side, then spin it around and zip tie or mount a coke bottle or the likes and put the hose in it.

Then block the port at the base of the carb off.

Then go test it.

Hope it helps, it's really just a troubleshooting procedure...
