TVV valve?

I was just looking through the FSM for my truck for fun. I remember a little busted part on my engine when I put it together a couple years ago and I think it's the TVV valve. The two vacuum hoses that should have been connected to it were plugged too. My check engine light has always been on and I don't remember the number but it is an EGR system code. If I reset it it stays off long enough to get it inspected. Anyway, I bet that little valve is the problem. Can anyone confirm that that may be my problem. I guess I'll try to take a pic of it this afternoon to see if that is even what it is. I'd like to drive without that light on for a change.

It's possible for sure.

Here's a tech article on how the whole thing works:

I'd find one used rather than repair. Atleast, in the long term. As a quick fix, you may be able to repair it. Run a search on TVV valve. It's been covered

PM DeathCougar for the part.

Try and get me a picture or a part number, and I can find what you need

I used a ballpoint pen to fix mine a couple months ago... no problems yet, but then again... my egr is blocked off.

Is it this one?

Valve, BiMetal Vacuum Switching No. 2, Part No. 25820-13010

I don't know the price on this part, but I paid $65.59 for the 3VZE equivalent part.

I did try repairing my part, but the upper part of the valve, including the ports that break off, is all injection molded plastic. Over the 14-odd years since the truck was built, all the plastic had become crumbly enough to foil my attempts at repair.

His is a '94...which I'm pretty certain it would have an electronic switching valve instead of the bimetal. I think they switched somewhere around '89 or '90.

I'd fixed the TVV and the a/c idle up VSV with the ballpoint pen trick. It just didn't hold up permanently on the TVV.

Hey guys, that looks like it. But I can't really fix it because the little connector tubes are busted off. Parts places don't have it either. I'm sure it's a dealership item. DeathCougar, I'm working on my front gears this weekend and ran into some problems so I'm preoccupied with that but when I'm done I'll try to get a part number from Toyota and see if you can get that part. Thanks for all your replies. Now, off to my ifs gear thread.
