Hey all,

I've searched and am using the following resources:

I wasn't able to find a clearer step by step than what I found - and there was noting in the Toyota section on 4x4 wire. If any of you know of a link to something clearer post the link.

I took the bolt off the pulley, and loosened the PS tensioner so I could try and get the belt out of the way in order to get the pulley off. I got the belt loose but still can't get it off. (Man it is so tight in there) I could prolly still get the pulley off with the belt on there, however it just won't come loose. I tried the pickle fork trick but it won't budge. Is there something else holding it on after I took the nut off? (And yes I know I have to be aware of the woodruf key when taking it off to not lose it)

What am I missing to get this pulley off?

The pulleys just corrode on, after years of being stuck on there. If the pickle fork trick doesn't work, pry bars might. Try using LOTS of PB blaster. You might just have to find a new pulley to put on your new pump.

The belt should come off though regardless of the pulley. The pump has an adjuster bracket and sub bracket below that, which might need loosened.

I looseed the adjuster bracket and moved the PS pump all the way over to make the belt lax, but still can't pry the belt off. I'll do PB blaster now.... Thanks DC.

I had the same problem. PB Blaster and some taps from a hamer did the trick. Spin the pulley, tap where you can get a clean shot, spin the pulley more, tap more, you'll get it. You don't have to wail on it, but a few smacks might break it loose.

The PB blaster and a spud wrench as a pry tool worked. God it was tight getting the other nuts off down in there...

Now I have to tear it down and decide if I want to swap for a remanned one or rebuild it myself....

Ok so I got everything transferred over to the remanned pump.

I am just a little confused about the o-ring/gasket that came with the banjo bolt port. Not sure whee it goes with the copper washers. The FSM doesn't say anything about it and in all my searches I can't find anything about it...

It has been a couple of years since I did mine, but the only o-ring I remember was between the fluid reservoir and the pump body. Sorry, that's not much help.

I get it now. The remanned pump came with an extra gasket but not both for the banjo bolt. I'll just re-use the copper washers.

I just replaced the entire pump when I did mine 4 years ago. I was to the point of bending the ˟˟˟˟˟ out of the pulley & just removed the old pump entirely. The reman had one on it~
