Truck won't start

Here's the deal. I bought an 85 4runner with a 95 22re in it. The wiring is all stock and has been chopped and spliced into in order for the 95 engine to work in it. Upon checking over everything I noticed that I was leaking fuel at the #3 fuel injector. I proceeded to take it apart, and upon removal of the o rings I busted a pintle cap. Swapped fuel injectors with someone local and had to grind off the little fins that guide the electrical connector on to the fuel injector off of the fuel injector. I know it wasn't the smartest thing to do, but it fits and is still held in place by the clips. Re-installed everything and the truck won't start.

Tested the fuel pump and it wouldn't turn on, tried 4crawlers jumper wire and that wouldn't turn it on. So I rigged up a manual switch so it would. Truck still will not start. After it has been sitting for a while it will at first attempt to start but then it will just turn over. It will turn over as many times as you want it to but it will not crank. Here's a video of what it does at first, and after that all it will do is turn over. I'm confused....

I would really appreciate any and all advice. Thanks, Sean

sounds like you've got the wrong type of injectors in there. there are two basic types: saturated and peak-and-hold. I believe the older engines were peak-and-hold and the later are saturated. hopefully you haven't damaged your ECU by putting the wrong ones in.

Aww, don't tell me I hurt the ECU....

I hope I can get the right injector back in and fire it up.

STILL WON'T CRANK...

Got the other fuel injector in and it still WILL NOT START. FURIOUS isn't even the right word to describe how I am right now. I almost put my socket wrench through the windshield.

Any thoughts? should I try and borrow a computer from someone and see if that works? Is there a way to re set mine? Christ, it's been sitting in my driveway for TOO LONG.

I'd check the signal to your injectors. There's a little tool called a noid lite you can plug into your wiring harness. They light up, to show you your getting power to your injectors.
I think I remeber something about injectors having a resistor in em. If that's the case I wouldn't be surprised if you fried something in the ecu, with the wrong injectors. Do some diagnostics before you go buying more stuff.

Yeah I may have someone that I can borrow a computer from before I buy anything, but I'll see if I can figure out what that noid light is, never heard of one. Possibly a test light? May just try and check with my voltage tester. I'm sick of this...
