This morning while cruising to work at about 55mph, my 1991 4x4, 5sp,3.0-V6 just up and cut out. Stopped running all the idiot lights came on and I coasted into a parking lot(across four lanes of traffic during morning rush). Just flat towed it home and this is what I know.

Still will not start.
Spray ether into the throttle body and it runs for a few seconds and dies. Stepping on the gas revs it a little, but cannot sustain it. I have not pulled a line yet, as I am suspecting that it may be a fuel pump, but what else should I look at? There are plenty of fuses and relays that could be the culprit, how about the ECU itself?

I am just looking for other(cheaper) things to check before I buy a fuel pump for $130.00. Its a northeast, Buffalo NY truck and swapping the fuel pump will not be fun.

check all of your fuses... under the hood and above the drivers' side kick panel.
