truck refuses to go into 4th

i have a 1990 toyota pickup 2wd v6 auto (a340e) sr5. still having problems with it shifting.. but at times it shifts perfectly through all gears.. 30 seconds later slams back into 3rd. but it doesnt shift properly often.

heres the things if changed..

all solenoids
filter
throttle positioning sensor
kick down cable
torque converter
3 different water temp sensors
computer

what else is there to change? speed sensor perhaps??

thanks everyone for any info you have..

i have 1990 toyota truck 2wd sr5 v6 floor shift auto. a340e (30-40le)

someone has to know the spline count since our dealerships and parts stores are too stupid to have this info.. they asked if it 26 or 31 (i think) spline

You don't give your differential gear ratio or the tire size?

FSM AT-60, step #3 throttle cable adjustment
FSM AT-61, Manual shift test
FSM AT-55&56, ECM Diagnostic
FSM AT-65, ECS troubleshooting flow chart

With the shift control set to normal, it will/should stay in OD once you get upto 89-94 mph with the throttle fully open and will/should stay in OD untill you drop below 90-85. (Good luck testing that)

Assuming you're doing the federal interstate speed limit you're probably functioning normally, it's shifting due to load differences your eyes aren't sensative enough to notice. Does it consistently down shift in the same stretch of road, that would be a hint it's not as level as you might think.
