Truck no-go, flashing OD light, code 42
Initially, after a mountain trip, I was warming up the truck to leave but it acted like it was in neutral. Had it trailored to my house and the OD light was flashing. I retrieve the codes and they were 42, and 64. I replaced all 3 solenoids in the auto trans but it still won't go anywhere and I still have the 42 code. If I go between drive and reverse it will move a little (like its slipping). Going into 4H and 4L does'nt help either. Is that speed sensor on the trans or behind the guage cluster? Any other help would be great. 90 ext cab p/u 4x4, 3.0, auto.

I tried looking CEL 64 up in my manual and cant find one. Not saying it doesnt exist, but are you sure you read it right?
Did you check your fluid level.
Cant help you on auto tranny?

code 42=vehicle speed sensor.
you can probably pick one up for about $100-$120.
there is a #1 vehicle speed sensor, in the dash behind the cluster, and the #2 speed sensor i beleive is mounted on or near the transmission itself near the transfer position switch and the stop light switch.
Just did some resaerch and found out code #42 points the the speed switch in the dash.

Thanks for replying!! My truck still dont run but I have not replaced the speed sensor yet. I can't figure out how that would have any thing to do with the trans not wanting to do anything. The speedo cable from the transfercase would not be spinning at an idle anyway. I'll replace the speed sensor anyway and see if that fixes the problem. Thanks all for your comments and I'll keep posting my findings.
