hey guys I have a 88 Toyota pickup it is the 3.0 V6. Every morning when I go to start my truck (and this only happens in the morning) I turn the key and it just sits there for about 45 seconds and then it will attempt to start up. I just recently had the alternator battery cables and the battery changes and I am kinda out of idea of what it could be so any help would be greatly appreciated

does it crank but doesn't fire?

make sure the cold start injector is squirting.

ya it will crank but it takes some time of rolling over then it starts

Like i said, pull the cold start injector and make sure its squirting on cold starts.

Second cold start injector. Mine had a similar issue till I fixed it. Hard as heck to start on cold mornings, like starting a carb. truck. Turn over turn over. gas gas.. finally! Started no problem in warm temps.

breakdown-
turn the key to start-
- voltage is sent to the starter to start cranking the engine
- voltage is sent to the COR (circuit opening relay)
-- COR sends voltage to fuel pump to turn the pump on
-- ignition switch sends voltage to CSITS (cold start injector time switch)
--- CSITS is below 60-65F: turns on CSI (cold start injector) so it can inject some extra fuel
--- CSITS is above 60-65F: nothing happens (warm start scenario)

engine is spinning

- sufficient air flow causes AFM to close its contacts and thus keeps the COR turned on, and consequently the fuel pump keeps running once the ignition switch (key) is moved from the 'start' to the 'run' position.

You forgot to add the o2 sensor... which sits there and does nothing until the engine warms it up

I think that it might have help that I cleaned it up a bit but it is acting like it has a dead battery but all the cable's have been checked and the alternator and battery are new and it works just fine it is just that first time i try to start it in the morning

Sounds like all your fuel may be running back down into the tank. Try this: jump B+ and FP in the check connector, then turn the ignition switch on for 30 seconds or so before turning it over. If it starts right away, the check valve in the fuel pump has given up the ghost.

If it's like it has a dead battery then I'm guessing that it doesn't crank over, correct? Does it spin the engine over but not start or does it do nothing except for click when you turn the key? If it just clicks then look at your starter.

I just replaced the cold start injector and that did the trick but no it would not even click it would just sit there for 45 seconds and the try to crank over 5ish times and then start
