Truck dies, then restarts after i pull the coil wire and test it.

I earlier posted about My truck that keeps dying, I got as far as this now.

Itll keep dying (while driving) then ill pull the coil wire and touch it to ground and crank, and theres spark (i get shocked as well).

Ill plug it back in and itll start.

I dont get it, what could be wrong??

its getting fuel because when i keep cranking it, after about 20 sec i will smell gas.. but after i pull the coil, test it (sparks) and plug it back in, itll start..

Have you looked into the ignition module (ignitor?)

Yep, that's it.
No promises, but sometimes replacing, or at least checking the ignitor can go quite a ways toward fixing a problem like you described.

How exactly do i test the ignitor??

Oh and just so its known, i have a 32/36 weber. EFI eliminated.

Hey guys i think i got the problem solved.. "think".. after some hours talking with people i ended up (because i did my tune up) putting my old distributor rotor back and i drove it the rest of the day and it drove fine... i have not had the time to drive it since, but this weekend i will drive it enough to determine if that was what the problem was... Do you guys have anything to say about this??
