Truck bed and fuel tank interchangability question
I have a rather interesting question to pose to you. I have my old truck still. It is a '90 regular cab standard bed. Since I wrecked it in sept. 2008, the plan has been to make a trailer out of the back of the truck. Also, my father has a bed and back frame from a early '80's 2wd truck.
Now, since I was laid off last week, I'm scrambling to make any money I can. I have a man offering to buy the bed off of my old '90. So, here is my question. Would an older bed, such as a early 1980's pickup, fit onto the frame of my '90? The reason's I would like to use the '90 are that A) Its a rolling chassis. All it needs is shocks. B) It's a 4wd. The angle on the hitch would be better, so the trailer wouldn't be swinging like a feather in the wind at high speeds.
Now, the next question. The fuel tank is still in my '90. My brother asked me today, if he could have the fuel tank to fit in his '94 2wd. The question is, will it fit, and would I have to swap the fuel pump or not? My '90 has the 17 gallon tank. His '94 has the 14 gallon, and it's a 22RE, where my '90 was a 3VZ.

I'm not 100% sure, I had the truck backhalved with a donor frame and my guy cut and rewelded one set of mounts just slightly to make it line up. I just measured the 92 bed mounts and sent him the data.
If I remember right, you may be able to lengthen one of the holes to make it fit.

It's a little banged up in back, but you get the picture.
It's a little wider, and the lines don't match up perfect.....but for me in Minnesota it was much easier to find a 90s bed than an 80s. I like the lines of the 80s better, but the 90s is a stronger bed.

I'm thinkin its a 79-83 bed. I don't have any experience with those old trucks what so ever, but that's what it looks like to me...
