truck about to die
im about to burn my truck to the ground...its a 86 22re and i had 33's on it and i down sized to 31's...when i first got the truck 3yrs ago and put the 33's on there it got about 22mpg now my fuel is down to about 12mpg and my oil is "growing" and smells like gas (my guess is fuel washing past the rings) its running extremly rich (can smell gas out of the tail pipe and plugs are black) this started all of a sudden one day it was fine the next day it sucks...am i in need of a rebuild???? (173k miles and never cracked open except for timing chain)

Have you pulled any codes from the computer?
Check the fuel pressure regulator. A quick check is to pull the vacuum hose off with the engine idling and check for any signs of gas coming out of the vacuum nipple.
It could also be a bad AFM or coolant temp sensor. There will be a code stored in the computer if either one goes bad.

pull the vaccum hose off of the fuel pressure reg???.....i tried a different afm off of a different truck and reset the comp and it did the same thing....its not throwing any codes...except at about 55mph in third gear, if you run it straight no down shifting or up it sends the check engine light on but it turns itself on if you shift or if you just wait about a min and a half and it turns off....if the regulator is bad will fuel be going into my oil???...i guess dumping to much gas and causing it to flood into the engine??...the truck doesnt have ne hesitation and it idles fine.... i dunno???

No, and it will store the code that lit the CEL after it goes out.
This is for a '93 - yours should be the same, but no guarantees

the diag ports are under the hood, next to the fuse box. Mine has the ports you need to jump writen on the hood. Takes 2 seconds and i just use a paperclip. I often have errors that never bring up a CEL that i would never see if i didn't check it this way every once in a while
