42- Vehicle Speed Sensor Signal.-- SPD signal is not input to the ECM for at least 8 seconds during high load driving with engine speed between 2200rpm and 5000 rpm.. Trouble area- Open or short in vehicle speed sensor circuit. Vehicle speed sensor. ECM

i know my speedo doesn't work, but how would that make my truck misfire? 42 is the only code i pulled. do i have to clear that one to get the next one?

just checked it again, and all i got was 42 over and over.
my cel never stays on.
when it starts missing real bad the light will flash a couple times and go off. and if it misses and i floor it, the light will come on for about 5 seconds then go out.
why wouldn't it store the code?
