This part of the arm is barely rubbing against the tire. Has anyone taken their grinder and removed the part that is circled with success?

Yes, I ground that lip back a bit on my rig. Not an issue to grind it, that material out at the end is not in the critical loading area for the control arm.

Grind away, and wear safety glasses.

i wouldnt grind on a critical piece of my vehicles suspension, especially at the end where the balljoint rests :/

some people who run the BJ spacer actually have to trim that area to fit the thing in.

on a side note, maybe the OP's wheels have the wrong backspacing?

You only have rubbing on one side?
If so maybe your spindle/knuckle is bent

The lip on the end is actually structural...The torsion of the 90 degree lip helps to stop the whole thing twisting under load. You can modify it if you want, people pie cut UCA's, you just have to put the strength back in when your done.

Sonoran Steel has shaved upper A-arms... they take stock 3rd gen runner a-arms and cut them and then weld it up... check it out on their website for a reference

just buy some 3/8's spacers or something, you can buy em at the autoparts store much easier
