transmissions

anyone tell me if there is any differance between a 87 and 88 5 speed trany and can Iinterchange the 88 into a 87 4runner 4cyl 22r any prolems that need to be addressed for the swap???

As long as both came from trucks/4Runners with the same engine. In '87 the turbo was available and in '88 the V6 was available. They are different transmissions than found in 22RE trucks/4Runners.
