Transmission woes
I have possibly a G54 Transmission, ofcourse no way to friggen tell, thanks Toyota for never marking your transmissions.
I get a very unpleasant grinding starting around 40mph and it gets louder and more disgusting with increased speed but this noise only happens when you depress the clutch or find that sweet spot in the throttle where the motor isnt quite driving the transmission and the transmission isnt quite driving the motor (ie coast).
Sounds like your taking a piece of steel and lightly pressing it into a bench grinder! like that white noise on a TV channel that has no signal.
Only really became noticeable after the Aussie went in 4 months or so ago. And I guess it's gotten worse, i drive highway 40+ miles a day so im just waiting for it to go BOOM
I dont know what to do, a rebuilt from marlin is a rediculously expensive option and i dont know if i trust any locals and i can't find any used, tho i havent checked the wreckers yet.
IDEAS??? .. What about rebuild kits, marlin stopped selling them and besides theres NO WAY TO IDENTIFY a G52 vs a G54...argg
