Hi all,

I'm going a little nuts with this deal replacement and wanted to get some thoughts from others who might be familiar with this seal. 1994 3VZE, 3.0 engine with 4WD.

I recently had a seal replacement done on the transmission due to a pump seal leak and after the transmission was put back in I had a leak from the rear shaft. No biggie, so I set out to replace it. The part numbers I got when referencing this seal all ended up appearing to be the wrong one, when comparing to the seal that came out. At AutoZone, I ended up getting the part number 710319, because it appeared to be the same seal that was removed, even though it was not the part number that came up. The best I can tell (according to the online repair manual), I have the A340E transmission, which should use the 3459S. I realize that it is possible that the person who did the seal replacement put the wrong seal in, but it seems to be an obvious fit.

I did the repair, and it still leaked. I did it again as I thought I might have just messed up the job and it's still leaking. It has been cold as heck here for 3 months and was looking to wait until the temp warmed up because I thought the seal might go in better with a warmer housing and a cooled seal. But I just really need to know that I have the right seal and am just tired of spewing trans fluid.

Can anyone tell me what the actual part number for this job is? I can provide any other information needed.

The rear output seal on your transfer case is leaking? Just to make sure we're talking about the same thing. Is it leaking around the driveshaft or the transfer case housing?

No, the rear of the transmission, where the driveshaft connects to the trans. I guess I should refer to it as the rear output shaft?

The more I research this the more I find different seals that are identified. I guess what I am looking for is technically the extension housing seal, but now I have 3 different part numbers for it.

Is your truck 2wd or 4wd? Yes it's called the rear output shaft seal. Take some pictures of it so we know 100 percent.

if you have a slip yolk then toy makes three different yolks check the ground hub diamiter or seal surfase area on the yolk with a mike that'll tell you wich one tou need

another thing if the yolk id dented or has a groove worn inn it it'll leak you can somtimes pollish the groove out with a lathe and some sand paper dont try to use the lathe to cut the groove out
