Transfer case output seal????
Hey guys, i need some help.
Ive noticed some gear oil all under the bottom of my truck and tonight i pulled the drive shaft to make sure it was leaking from there. Apparently it is leaking from behind the nut that holds the flange on?
I went to the steelership last week and bought the seal. (well the guy behind the counter was like, "uhhhhh i think this is it...."
I was hoping maybe someone could verify the part number.
SEAL, TYPE T OIL
90311-41007
I was talking with Jay351 and he told me it is simple as taking off the nut, pulling off the flange, pulling out the seal and putting the new one in, tighten down flange, stake nut, bolt up driveshaft done!
Just making sure if that is the best way to do it and making sure there is no special tools needed (i was told a seal puller is necessary, but idk)
Also what size is the flange nut, or whatever it is called?
Thanks a bunch.

I just rebuilt my T case and trans, I wrote down the seal #s that came out and the seals sourced from Marlin that went back in. That # does not look like any I wrote down. The rear output seal should have one arrow on it if it is a Toyota seal. The front output has two arrows. Also, use a new nut, torque it to 90 ft lbs, and use a sealer on the splines of the output yoke. Read the # on the seal itself.

Its the flange where the rear driveshaft bolts to. Fluid is leaking from that seal

Thanks MT. Goat!
Also, just to clairfy, all i do is take the nut out, slide the flange off replace the seal and put it back together. Is there any tricks or tips while replacing this seal?
Thanks!

Pretty much like doing the pinion flange seal as described below:
http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTri...eal/index.html
No seal puller needed for the t-case flange seal. One tip is to apply some RTV sealant to the splines of the output flange before putting it back on the output shaft to help seal up that area from leaks. Picked up that trick from Marlin.

I have a slight groove where the seal rides. It doesn't feel like much with my finger but when I slide the new seal over the groove it does catch.
Anyone have any experience with speedi-sleeves?
