Transfer Case Not Shifting Into 4Low Until Warm?

Anybody have this problem on their 1st gens? Mine's an 86 Turbo 4runner. I don't know much about these transfer cases. How do these things work? Electric servo? I liked the one I had in my 85 that worked flawlessly with 200k on it.

maybe the ADD sleve is frozen, or maybe your truck isnt making enough vaccum to actuate the sleve...

I'll have to do some research into this. Would this have a completely different transfercase than my 85 cuz its a turbo? It looks alot bigger and has a little baby oil pan on it, oh and whats up with the oil cooler on the transfercase? I've never seen this before.

i'm guessin you have an auto. all auto's have a little transfercase cooler on them. i know the autos dont shift into overdrive until the engine reaches ~160 degrees to help with warm up. maybe it effects the transfercases ability to shift into low?

i believe that it is the same t-case as the v6s... so, yea, it would be a chain driven unit...

it must just be an ECU thing because i tried to engage mine into low range before the engine was warmed to ~160 and no luck. like i posted above, it must all be to help the engine warm up faster
