Tranny problem

Ok, I'm having a problem with my tranny (I believe) on my 88 4R. So, here's what I think is happening. There is a blockage in the flow of the oil, which is causing my tranny to overheat. When it over heats, the rig wont start. I let it sit for a while and cool down it starts right up. I was just curious if anyone else has had this kinda problem.

No, it's not battery or anything like that, I've already tried messing with the Park and Nuetral switches for the starter, I don't believe it is them either. So, any other ideas would be helpful, thanks.

When you say overheat you do mean the trans temp light comes on correct?
And by no start, no crank or crank, no fire?
