trying to figure out whats wrong with my windows, mostly my rear window since I need that working to drop the gate. the prior owners suggested a fuse went out during the winter.
was reading through this - http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTri...CommonProblems to try to figure out possible fixes, couldn't come up with anything.

First make sure your rear wiper is all the way up and tailgate completely closed. My need to lean agaist it some. Also are the bolts in the back completely (about 1/2 way, and have the points on them) in, they screw into a safety switch.

To test your motor you can run some wires straight from the motor to a battery and that will eliminate that. If your motor is bad there are several relplacements that can be found, you would need to look that up. I dont have them.

Do you even get the defrost light on when you push the defrost button. Reason I ask is to see if the relay box is even working at all.

For the rear and all of the safetys, I put a jumper wire in the plug that I have marked to the front tab on the platic cover by the gear shift. It is the only place I can get a good ground. Makes the backhatch so much less trouble to operate.

Link to my build and what I did..Post #185 and #186.. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f199...99/index8.html

So... What's the window doing?... Is it just the back window or all windows?

I 2nd what terry was saying and might add the back window may be the relays... I'm pretty sure the setup is the same on my rig..My back window got to were it would go up about half way and stop. I'd then have to force it the rest of the way up with my hands. I checked the motor as well as everything else mentioned above, but finally swapped the relays and everything works great....

its all the windows: drivers, passengers and rear, they don't move at all and I don't hear any attempted response from any of the motors when I play with the switches, the only motor I get a response from is the antenna, and that got snapped off. the rear wiper is definitely all the way up, it looks like it may have got snagged on a branch because its missing the blade so its pulled up and off up the window.

Electrical isnt my strong point but here is my best shot. It looks like the drivers windows fuse is the "IGN" and the rear window is "Engine" fuse. I was unable to locate where the antenna gets it power from or even find it in my Haynes. I may have just over looked it.

Since your rear wiper got ripped off, I would pull the cover and have someone to move the stud that the arm hooked to and make sure it is closing that safety switch. You should be able to see it when they move it. If it is closing the switch that will keep all power off to the rear as best as I understand.

This area of electric is really a weak point of mine so maybe someone else can chime in and maybe give you some good solid info. This was the best that I can make out of the diagrams.

Other then the windows are there other electrical issues that might share the same fuse or circuit to help trouble shoot this?

haven't found it yet...I did find a fuse box under the dashboard that appears to have 2 fuses pulled out, but I haven't a clue what they do. I need to get a repair manual to identify them.

http://www.ncttora.com/fsm/

Bout halfway down the page is an 88 specific manual (won't have info on your 3.0 though but the fuse panel on the drivers kick panel should be the same)

Page 1204 of the 88 FSM shows how to troubleshoot your window issues.

Do you have your owners manual so you have a map of the fuse box? If not take a picture and I'll tell you what fuses are missing.

If all the windows arent working though, and the window fuse is in there (and not blown) I'd say circuit breaker is the next stop

I believe the EFI fuse is the one for the windows, but would it be a bad idea to replace them all?

The efi fuse is for your engine computer, not your windows.

Have you checked the circuit breaker for the power windows? Should be right next to that fuse panel

if power locks and no other windows are working it could be a bad relay. i believe the main relay sends power to the main switch on the driver's side door and to all of the windows/locks/etc.

if the relay is bad then nothing will get power.

step 1 - check fuses
step 2 - find and check relay

that would be my process
